Untangle Acquires Cymphonix, Announces M&A Strategy
Deal expands Untangle’s reach in network software and appliances for SMB market
SUNNYVALE, Calif. and MIDVALE, Utah – October 1, 2013 – Untangle, Inc., a network software and appliance company, today announced the acquisition of Cymphonix Corporation, enhancing its bandwidth management and application control offerings. The acquisition also expands Untangle’s reach into larger businesses and schools. For Cymphonix, the deal provides access to additional technology, web-based infrastructure, and investment capital.

Untangle simplifies unified threat management (UTM) for network administrators and IT decision-makers by offering a transparently priced, complete solution available as a software download or on a turnkey appliance direct from their website.
Cymphonix was founded in 2004 and is based in Midvale, Utah. Like Untangle, the company strives to simplify network management for overburdened IT departments, improving Internet performance and reducing bandwidth costs.

The deal also kicks off Untangle’s new merger and acquisition strategy. The company is pursuing strategic acquisitions of companies with related technologies in the SMB market.
