Untangle Completes Purchase of eSoft

Deal furthers Untangle’s acquisition strategy by expanding SMB reach

SUNNYVALE, Calif. and BROOMFIELD, Colo., Dec. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ —Untangle, Inc., a network software and appliance company, today announced the purchase of privately-held eSoft. The deal, structured as an asset purchase, furthers Untangle’s aggressive acquisition strategy and expands its reach in the SMB market.

eSoft was founded in 1984 and was first to market with an integrated firewall, email and web threat security appliance, leading the creation of the unified threat management (UTM) product category and focusing on bringing enterprise-grade security to small and medium businesses. The asset purchase includes the eSoft.com domain name, UTM firewall technology and appliances, and existing customer contracts. Employees from eSoft will also be joining Untangle to support eSoft customers and channel partners.

Other terms of the deal were not disclosed.
