Untangle Named as a 2007 AlwaysOn-100 Top Private Company

Untangle Selected for Its Innovations in Delivering Low-cost Network Security to Small-to-Medium Business (SMB)

SAN MATEO, Calif. – July 17, 2007 – Untangle, the pioneer in open source network gateway platforms, today announced that it has been selected by AlwaysOn as one of the AO 100 Top Private Companies. The AO 100 is a power list of the top private emerging technology companies that are creating new business opportunities in global technology.

Untangle was chosen from more than 900 other companies by the AlwaysOn editorial team and members of the KPMG VC Practice, based largely on uniqueness, market traction (measured by customer growth or revenue), and the level of disruption the company could cause in existing markets. Untangle joins fellow open source companies like Sourcefire, SugarCRM, and MySQL as a winner of this prestigious award.

“As a young company, we are honored to have been chosen as a ‘AO 100’ winner,” said Bob Walters, CEO of Untangle. “Reducing IT costs is a market imperative in today’s world. Untangle’s full embrace of open source methodologies and our innovations in the channel are already disrupting the status quo. This type of economic impact is probably what won the award for us.”

Untangle and the other AO 100 winners will be honored at the AO Stanford Summit, to be held July 31-August 2 at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. The Stanford Summit is a two-and-a-half-day executive gathering that highlights the significant economic, political and commercial trends affecting the global technology industries.
